Martin was previously the Managing Director at Science Industry Assessment Services (SIAS), where he spent over 10 years working in qualifications and apprenticeships. During his time at SIAS, Martin developed a client acquisition strategy that aligned with the product development direction, helping to rebalance the client base.
Between 2012 – 2019 Martin worked at Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT) as the National Account Manager and in 2017 the Head of UK Account Management. Here he played a pivotal role in defining the Employer strategy to achieve reach and significance with employers, providing valuable insights, account management, and product/service development across key sectors. Over a 12-month period, the combined team identified around 1,200 opportunities and shared them with the Training Provider network. He was also instrumental in defining new markets for AAT Qualifications, including Advanced Learner Loans, Welfare to Work, and Adult Community Learning. This involved conducting gap analysis and developing a new Training Provider targeting approach.
Additionally, the AAT Account Manager developed the Training Provider acquisition strategy, which accounted for 25% of new Accounting Qualification student registrations. They also devised a market development strategy for a suite of Short Qualifications, resulting in 19,000 registrations in 2018, with the Welfare to Work market accounting for 7,600 of those registrations.
