Kirk is the Chair of the Institute for Apprenticeships and Technical Education’s Health & Science Route Panel and he is also the Chair of the Health and Social Care Advisory Board at the King’s Trust, supporting the national charity to develop and expand its support for young people.
In addition, Kirk is the Vice Chair of the Corporation Board at East Coast College and Chair of its Governance Committee and its People Committee.
Kirk was previously the National Lead for Talent for Care – a NHS strategy initially designed for the support workforce across England (for example overseeing the introduction and use of the Care Certificate). This work then expanded to include the development of new apprenticeship standards for use across the NHS, encouraging the increase in the NHS’s employment of apprentices, the improvement of career pathways and the opening up of access to NHS employment.
Kirk has a career background in HR having been the HR Director of two FE colleges and an acute hospital, and a regional Director of Workforce Partnerships with Health Education East of England NHS.
