For your trainee dental nurse

Developed in conjunction with a respected educational advisor, the NEBDN National Diploma in Dental Nursing is a General Dental Council (GDC) recognised dental nursing qualification which covers all outcomes described within the GDC Preparing to Practice document.

The skills your trainee dental nurse will gain and be assessed upon are described within our extensive curriculum under the domains of Clinical, Communication, Professionalism and Management and Leadership.

Our qualification comprises a formative workplace assessment, the Record of Experience (RoE), which your trainee will complete online. Supported in the workplace by a GDC registrant acting as a ‘witness’, the RoE enables the workplace team to become an integral part of the training of the trainee dental nurse.

Of course, your trainee may have more than one work-based witness but whether there’s just one, or more than one, all witnesses will complete a short online training programme before being able to act as a witness for their trainee. For your convenience, the programme is available online for you 24/7.

The summative assessment comprises of written and practical components aimed at assessing knowledge and decision making to evidence your trainee dental nurse’s understanding and competence.  The practical element comprises a series of objective structured clinical examinations (OSCEs) and is unique to NEBDN in relation to dental nursing qualifications.

The result is a qualification that we’re proud of – one that enhances teamwork within the dental practice and gives peace of mind to both trainee and employer that the trainee has met the learning outcomes of a robust qualification and can look forward to a fulfilling career within the dental profession.
