Marie qualified as a Dental Nurse in 1994 and has worked in NHS hospitals as well as general and private dental practices.  She continued her studies and gained her Oral Health Educator (OHE) qualification then went on to run 1-1 oral health clinics supporting adults to improve their Oral Health.  Enjoying this aspect of her role Marie gained her teaching certificate and began teaching dental nurses before gaining her Master’s in Education.

Marie joined NEBDN 2001, initially as an examiner for the National Certificate and the Certificate in OHE.  She was then given the opportunity to join the OHE committee and went on to chair this committee for a number of years before becoming a trustee and then chair of the board from 2013 to 2017.

Marie has a passion to improve the education and training for dental nurses and is committed to NEBDN to continue to develop qualifications that meet the needs of tomorrow’s dental nurse. She uses her leadership skills to ensure the board comply with legal and regulatory requirements, as well as the looking at the long term direction of the organisation.
